Hickory Motor Speedway
The Hickory Motor Speedway is a short track located in Newton, North Carolina. One of stock car racing's most storied venues, and is often referred to as the "World's Most Famous Short Track" and the "Birthplace of the NASCAR Stars." It was Ned Jarrett who coined the phrase 'Birthplace of the NASCAR Stars' as some of the biggest names in auto racing got their start at the nostalgic facility. Hickory is still used as a venue for NASCAR's club racing division, the Whelen All-American Series. The CARS Tour featuring Late Model and Super Late Model touring series cars on the same night also features a full meet at the track.
Drivers such as Ned & Dale Jarrett, Ralph Earnhardt, Bobby Isaac, and Dennis Setzer call Hickory Motor Speedway home after starting their careers on the historic short track.
The Hickory Motor Speedway is open Saturday nights (March thru October) for the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series and several southern touring series. Grandstands open at 5 PM, qualifying at 5 PM, On Track Autograph Session at 6 PM, and racing at 7 PM.
