Hickory experiences all four seasons, giving residents plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors year-round. From warm summer days on Lake Hickory to colorful fall hikes and mild winters, there's always a reason to get outside.

March – May
As temperatures warm into the 60s and 70s, flowers bloom and outdoor recreation comes alive. It's the perfect season for hiking, biking, exploring local parks, and enjoying events throughout the region.

May 26 – September 15
Average highs reach 80°F or warmer, with July being the hottest month (average high 87°F, low 69°F). Summer is perfect for boating, paddling, outdoor concerts, and evenings spent on the patio.

September – November
Crisp mornings, comfortable afternoons, and vibrant fall foliage make autumn one of the most popular times to explore Hickory's parks, trails, and local festivals. Average daytime temperatures range from the 60s to upper 70s.

Average daytime highs stay below 57°F, with January typically ranging from 32°F to 50°F. Snowfall is occasional, but winters are generally mild compared to many parts of the country.
