Holiday Parade & Tree Lighting

A Downtown Tradition that Shines

In Hickory, the holiday season doesn’t ease in— it kicks off with one of the community’s favorite nights of the year: the annual Lowes Foods Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting in Downtown Hickory. Every November, on the Friday before Thanksgiving, locals and visitors line the streets for an evening of festive fun that sets the tone for the whole season.

Downtown Christmas Tree Lighting

The night starts with a special tribute to fallen soldiers, followed by a parade packed with twinkle lights, dancers, local performers, and plenty of holiday spirit. Once Santa makes his grand entrance into Union Square, he’ll light the big tree and officially flip the switch on Hickory’s season of cheer.

Expect festive floats, hot cocoa, and that small-town holiday feeling you really can’t fake. Whether you’re here for the photo ops, the family time, or just the chance to wear your coziest scarf, this is where the holidays start in Hickory.

Don’t Miss It:
